Bridal Beauty Trends of 2022

With this year’s wedding season fast approaching, No7 Beauty has analyzed search data to reveal which bridal beauty trend will be taking over the US this summer.  

With weddings now back in diaries after a two-year hiatus, many brides are searching for flawless looks, combined with the latest make-up trends to ensure their wedding day beauty is on point.  

The team at No7 Beauty trawled through existing articles and social platforms to find out which make-up trends are on bridal beauty lists and compiled a list of the top 26 to reveal which was the most searched for on Google.  

The top 10 bridal beauty trends in the US  

From the research, the top 10 bridal beauty trends across the whole of the US were: Winged Eyeliner (22,000 searches), Smokey Eye (21,000 searches), Natural Makeup (18,000 searches), Cat Eye Makeup (14,000 searches), Cut Crease (9,000 searches), Red Lips (8,800 searches), Graphic Liner (5,900 searches), Glossy Lips (5,800 searches), Contouring (5,000 searches) and Gold Eyes (4,300 searches).  

While traditionally, wedding makeup has been very subtle to complement outstanding and breathtaking dress designs, times are definitely changing in 2022, with brides now making statements with their makeup as well.  

Out of all the bridal beauty trends researched, the least popular trends were: Natural Glow (1,000 searches,) Fluffy Brows (1,100,) Nude Lips (1,200,) Dark Makeup (1,300,) and Peach Blush (1,400), supporting the prediction that brides will be rocking statement, glam makeup on their big day, leaving the natural glam for day-to-day looks. 

State by state wedding beauty trends  

Taking a closer look at the data for individual state trends, No7 Beauty’s analysis revealed that the most popular bridal beauty trend was contouring and was the most searched for beauty look in a staggering 21 states. California saw the highest search volume for contouring, with over 12,000 searches in the past 3 months.  

Contouring is the use of dark bronzers and bright highlighters to sculpt the face with makeup. Only in the past few years has contouring surfaced in the mainstream beauty industry, with it originally trending within the drag community decades ago as a way to shape the face. While the old contour was used to drastically change how people perceived the shape of your face, 2022’s contouring trend embraces the idea that ‘less is more’ to give the illusion of realistic-looking depth and dimension. 

How to get the look:

With 14 states ranking smokey eyes the most popular bridal look, Georgia ranks the highest with 1,000 searches for smokey eyes in the past 3 months.

While 2021 was the year for bulletproof matte lipsticks, 2022 will see a resurgence of glossy red lips.
